Screen’s current Computer to Plate (CtP)solution is sold as the PlateRite series. Introduced more than 10 years ago the Plate Rite series is today a de-facto standard in the Printing industry.
It’s success is based on the philosophy of making reliability and quality number 1 priority for production equipment. Today we can proudly say we have succeeded in delivering this and more to the market. The following technologies and qualities are the foundation of this success:

Optical control technology
Optics always has been one of the most important aspects of Screen's technological innovations, which started with its first wooden processing camera in the 1940s. Exposure laser technology has been used for CtP imaging, as well as direct pattern imaging of printed circuit boards. An accuracy level of ±1um can be achieved.

High-precision engineering
Screen’s philosophy has always been to turn technology into customer values and precision engineering lies at the heart of the whole process. Screen's CtP devices are completely manufactured at our factories in Kyoto, all of which have certified ISO quality management systems. The success of the PlateRite series, is ensured by multi-channel exposure units which combine Screen's optical imaging know-how and Grating Light Valve (GLV) laser technology of Silicon Light Machines Inc.
Silicon Light Machines Inc. is a developer of devices incorporating micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) technology. It has won accolades for its unique, world-leading optical MEMS such as Grating Light Valve (GLV) technology and other innovations, and is now a new member of the Screen Group to leverage the further combined strengths.

The PlateRite series features an automatic inline punching system that ensures perfect registration on press. Holes punched in the plates line up with registration pins on the drum, keeping the plates always in the same position irrespective of plate size and squareness.
A reliable external drum unit ensures consistent exposure, removing any risk from exposure distances, and delivers the ultimate sharp reproduction on the plate.
The high-resolution 4,000 dpi option is perfect for everything from high demanding art printing to the accurate reproduction of small text sizes like those required for bond and other certificate printing.

The PlateRite series is suitable for use with a variety of plate types and covers every different plate size currently available on the market. The PlateRite exposure drum features an automated clamping and vacuum system, which reliably and firmly secures a wide range of plate sizes, even at high-speed exposure.

Ecology and Safety

The Screen group has applied an environmental assessment to products as a form of design review. The PlateRite series features operational energy savings, promotes an environmental friendly production workflow and reduces the disposal of resources due to its field upgrade service. And according to our company policy, all PlateRite series are compatible with RoHS directive regulation.

In addition to the products themselves, Screen has also adopted a simplified reinforced cardboard packaging system for the transportation of large-size products to reduce the weight and maintain the levels of harmful chemicals such as lead, mercury and cadmium for it’s packaging. This is a world first in the graphics industry.
