SCREEN Truepress Jet520HD ‘Absolutely Amazing’ for Epsilon

Nate Milliken, managing director of the Epsilon St. Louis, Missouri, print production facility, went in front of the camera to highlight his company’s first six months operating the SCREEN Truepress Jet520HD. What Nate has to say in this new video probably won’t surprise anyone who has test-driven the high-definition colour inkjet web press. For others less familiar with the Truepress Jet520HD, it serves up an eye-opening testament to SCREEN’s pursuit of technological excellence.

Epsilon, a marketing communications giant, was the first U.S. company to install the Truepress Jet520HD. The St. Louis plant focuses on digital direct mail packages and conventional direct mail packages serving multiple industries, primarily automotive, financial, insurance, nonprofit and telecommunications. Nate calls SCREEN “a true technology partner” and the Truepress Jet520HD an “absolutely amazing” performer.

Productivity: “The Truepress Jet520HD allows us to take a 1.2-million-piece self-mailing program that starts printing on Thursday and actually mails on Monday. … Previously, a digital toner-based program would have taken seven to 10 days to complete. The HD prints 10 times faster than our current digital toner-based machines.”

Print Consistency: “The press approval proof looks exactly like the print that comes off roll one as well as the print that comes off roll 72.”

Substrate Versatility: “A lot of our automotive programs require [up to] 12-point substrates. SCREEN was the only digital press that could meet that requirement.”

Reliability: “In the first six months, we printed 1,041 hours, and we’ve only experienced… 1.5 percent of unplanned downtime. … As an old toner guy, downtime is usually anywhere from 10 to 20 and even 30 percent on a bad month.”
