SCREEN Europe’s History

Since its inception in 1974, SCREEN Europe has grown into a trusted partner for more than 190 printing companies across 40 EMEA countries.

With over 250 digital inkjet presses sold, serving industries from commercial print to packaging and label converters.

SCREEN: A Timeline of Printing Success

SCREEN’s journey began with its incorporation as Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. in 1943, though its origins date back even further to Akira Ishida, establishing a copper plate and lithographic printing shop in Kyoto, Ishida Kyokuzan Printing Works, in 1868.

Over the decades, SCREEN has become a leader in print by continuously leveraging our core expertise in pre-press solutions and as a core pioneer guiding the ongoing development of digital inkjet printing technology.

A People-First Approach to Success

SCREEN Europe’s growth has been shaped by its people-first philosophy. Many employees have spent over 25 years with the company, developing their skills alongside evolving technologies.

This stability has ensured a consistent level of expertise and strong, long-term relationships with clients and partners.

Adapting to a Changing Market

As the printing industry evolves, we remained a leader in adapting to market shifts. While demand in certain sectors has slowed, areas like packaging, labels, and book printing have seen renewed interest, and our digital printing solutions are ideally suited to meet the growing need for personalised and customised packaging with variable data printing capabilities (VDP).

A Commitment to Innovation

Looking ahead, we are confident in the future of the European printing industry and the enduring value of print in today’s world, reflected in the investment in our state-of-the-art Inkjet Innovations Centre (IIC) at our new headquarters. As we move forward, we will continue focusing on sustainability improvements, integrating new developments in automation, and adapting to evolving regulations and market demands to ensure our solutions meet the requirements of tomorrow.
