Hunkeler Innovationdays 2023
Lucerne, Switzerland, from February 27th – March 2nd
SCREEN Europe is pleased to announce its participation at Hunkeler Innovationday 2023 (HID 2023) at the stand #P4 (hall 2), where its Truepress Jet520HD+ and new Truepress PAC 520P presses will be presented. Under the theme ‘Creating a Future in Print!’, SCREEN will exhibit an advanced printing system which is the most reliable and productive in the market.
The Truepress Jet520HD+ press with newly-launched ink named SC+ Ink will be configurated with Hunkeler Cut & Stuck system (CS8). The company will also outline its relationship with Solimar Systems, and exhibit its range of digital printing solutions, including its pioneering workflow technology.
Visitors to HID2023 can also discover the brand new Truepress PAC520P developed by SCREEN based on more than a decade of experience in inkjet printing. The Truepress PAC520P is a pioneer in digital inkjet printing for flexible paper packaging. It opens up a wider range of applications allowing customers to greatly expand their markets in the future.
Offset quality on standard offset papers at offset production speeds with the added power of variable and short-run print-on-demand.
With more than 100 users the extraordinary SC/ SC+ inks have already proven that inkjet on gloss, silk and matt offset coated stocks is possible without priming. The new SC+ water-based ink has a wider colour gamut achieving comparable quality with offset printing. Too good to be true? Visit our stand and check yourself!
As part of its vision to become a leading digital printing-equipment supplier for flexible packaging, SCREEN will showcase a prototype model of its new Truepress PAC520P high-speed, inkjet printing system at HID 2023. SCREEN GA is developing this digital press specifically for printing onto paper-based substrates, using water-based, food-compliant inks for sustainable flexible packaging applications.
One rapidly growing trend is the reduction of plastic material used in packaging. Many market-research studies have shown that consumers perceive paper-based packaging as a more environmentally friendly and easy-to-recycle format for the products they buy. Brand owners, meanwhile, are demanding shorter turnaround times with a higher degree of product diversification (more SKUs). Packaging converters are not able to adapt their analogue printing equipment (flexo, gravure or offset) to handle the increase in variability in packaging designs and order frequency.
In response to these market trends, SCREEN GA is moving forward with product planning for its Truepress PAC 520P – a high-speed, water-based inkjet digital press for paper-based packaging substrates with a much lower environmental impact than conventional printing processes. This is due to a drastic reduction in energy and material waste. The Truepress PAC 520P utilises newly developed proprietary water-based pigment inks that comply with appropriate food-safety regulations. The system is expected to provide both outstanding print quality and safety while maintaining exceptional throughput.
JI Lite drives a built-in high-speed camera system and creates printhead correction data to further automate quality management. This includes; shading correction (colour matching between printheads), coping with missing nozzles and maintaining perfect head alignment.
JetInspection is an optional upgrade to the standard JI Lite. It performs detailed and comprehensive real-time inspection of the complete print image across each and every printed page. It can detect everything from OCR fonts, decoded bar codes and missing dots to foreign substances, colour variations and faulty output text. When it detects the nozzle missing, the printer automatically stops which saves time and paper resources. SCREEN collaborates with industry-leading post-press and other POD printer vendors and can offer total workflow solutions from real-time error inspection to diverting in post-press processes. It can also include reprinting using either a toner-based cut-sheet printer or our Truepress inkjet press.
75 years of prepress and printing technology has evolved into the most advanced, user friendly and automated workflow in the market. The Equios hybrid workflow can drive Computer-to-plate, toner devices and variable high-speed continuous inkjet systems.
From pre-flight and colour management to dynamic imposition and smart job folders, Equios is a total solution and can integrate with both MIS systems and post-press devices.
Efficient job handling on different paper types of multiple sizes is a challenge for all book & commercial printing companies. SCREEN’s Smart Job Binder is a solution for it with its sophisticated grouping features.

Come and see how this solution will greatly improve the efficiency of your book production flow.
All Truepress Jet 520HD printers will now be equipped with MYIRO, a modern, automatic colour calibration system making colour management much faster, easier, accurate and reliable.
All steps in the calibration process are integrated into one and the same software now. Thanks to the new autoscan spectrophotometer, the measuring processes are much easier to handle and about 4 times shorter.
The entire calibration process is now being completed in 30-45 min. This saves 90 min to 2 hours of time per machine setup.
On newly installed 4-colour CMYK Truepress Jet 520 HD printers software ‘MYIRO tools for SCREEN’ and spectrophotometer ‘MYIRO-9’ – will from now on be integrated as standard.
Solimar’s SOLitrack system provides excellent visualization of each job progress and status of equipment, plus a wide range of partnership that enables it to link with the printers of various manufacturers. Solimar and SCREEN developed a combined seamless digital workflow with SCREEN’s highly reliable RIPing system EQUIOS.
Advancing in this area enables greater automation, labour saving, fewer production losses and errors in the printing process, as well as improved overall tracking and visibility of print jobs.
TRUST offers an advanced IoT solution to maximize the performance at your production sites. It provides you with a dedicated web page to access a wide variety of service information and reports to analyse the operational efficiency of their systems.
Also, TRUST can constantly monitor your printer to detect stoppages and other critical issues, as well as the errors that come before them. This information is immediately reported to SCREEN support staff via e-mail making it possible to perform an extensive range of support tasks including assistance with efficiency analysis, recovery processes and operational procedures.
