Slovenian label printer Tenovis has installed a Screen Truepress Jet L350UV press to meet increased demand for low volume work. The family business prints self-adhesive labels mostly for food packaging, but is now considering new markets as a result of purchasing the new digital press.
Following a robust review of the market, Tenovis selected the Screen UV inkjet press due to a combination of local support, print quality and price. “As our first UV inkjet press it was important to us to have good local support. We already have Screen CTP equipment, we have an existing relationship with Screen and know the company’s reputation for reliability,” explains Peter Detiček, Owner at Tenovis. “Cost-effectiveness also played a major part in our decision. Between the different technologies calculating the price of jobs varies quite considerably. With Screen it is straightforward and good value.”
With the second and third generation of the family now running the business – Detiček’s mother and father started the business 60 years ago, and his daughter is now a director of the business – Tenovis prides itself on a professional, personal approach to excellent customer service. Detiček continues, “One of the benefits of the digital press is that customers can forget an order, right up to the last minute, and we can still deliver on time, almost the same day.”
The new press will not only support Tenovis in an increased workload from existing clients and markets, but Detiček sees opportunities in new markets resulting from the investment. He comments, “Screen provided some samples for us to pitch to a prospect in the cosmetics industry. The print quality was fantastic, and we think we can leverage that and get more work in that field. There could also be more opportunity with local work. Currently, approximately 95% of our products are exported around the world to the UK, Australia, and USA. Slovenia is a small country, not many local companies need large runs. A wine producer for example may just want 300 of one label, 250 of another. With the new digital press there’s a chance we can increase our local work because we can deliver low volume work at a good price.”
“We’re delighted to expand our relationship with Tenovis,” comments Tomaž Košar, Region Manager for Screen. “It’ll be very interesting to see them moving to new markets and we’ll obviously support this any way we can. It is great to see our customers wanting to innovate with ambition, something that we pride ourselves on at Screen.”
