Erbi Group Adopts SCREEN Truepress JET 520HD Mono to Accelerate Advance Pharmaceutical Leaflet Production

Erbi Group, a specialist printing group providing end-to-end production solutions for the pharmaceutical sector, has installed a SCREEN Truepress JET 520HD Mono at one of its production facilities to expand its pharmaceutical leaflet capabilities with digital inkjet printing, supported by fully integrated post-press inspection and automated defect rejection.

Lodz, Poland — Erbi Group, operating through four specialist companies, works to provide as a comprehensive production partner for pharmaceutical clients, offering a single point of contact to support their entire packaging production chain. This complete in-house workflow, from initial artwork and graphic design through to printed pharmaceutical leaflets and finished products, offers both the production efficiency and the quality control consistency demanded by the highly regulated pharmaceutical sector.

To maintain these high standards while growing their business, Jakub Bielecki, President of the Management Board/CEO at Erbi Group, described the decision to invest in the SCREEN digital printing, saying, “We saw in inkjet printing the potential to grow our business by supporting a wider variety of clients and job types. We see the future of pharmaceutical leaflet printing in digital, and the Truepress JET 520HD Mono as the best choice in the market.”

Digital Inkjet Consistency and Accountability for Pharma Leaflets

In pharmaceutical, something as small as a single errant ink droplet can have serious implications for patient safety and regulatory compliance. This is why Erbi Group’s first consideration before adopting any new printing solution is stable and accurate output from uploaded file to final design.

The Truepress JET 520HD Mono handles these requirements effectively, producing stable, consistent output on delicate 40gsm substrates and reducing print defects, while JETInspection, SCREEN’s visual inspection system standard with all Truepress JET solutions, verifies output for defects or misprints to ensure stringent readability benchmarks are verifiably.

The added benefit of digital printing file-handling for pharma leaflets is how SCREEN’s EQUIOS workflow management software maintains a complete digital archive of the input data against the scanned output of every individual printed leaflet. As pharmaceutical clients require this information to validate Erbi Group’s products regardless of printing method, the digital solutions ability verify the scans of printed leaflets against the original file data continuously throughout production, then to generating the required post-production data without additional processing gives further drives Erbi Group’s operational output.

However, detecting an error is only half the challenge. Bielecki explains, “With the SCREEN press, flaws are rare, and the platform can flag the occasional defect, but they are still there on the printed reel. We needed a solution that could cut and eject these sheets without stopping the entire line to maintain the throughput to keep up with our client’s needs for tight turnaround times.”

SCREEN Pharma Printing Solution Integration

Where the Truepress JET 520HD Mono made the critical difference for Erbi Group was the capability to integrate downstream data verification and cutting technology. Through SCREEN’s long-standing partnership with finishing specialist MBO KOMORI Group, their engineering and workflows specialists successfully collaborated to install a complete, end-to-end solution to inspect, flag, and remove individual printed sheets from the reel continuously throughout leaflet production without any manual intervention.

Bielecki commented on how he and his team “are grateful that SCREEN has a strong relationship with MBO. The established communication between the Truepress JET 520HD Mono and the MBO system removes a major production bottleneck while further insuring any non-conforming materials reach our clients.

A Growing Partnership with SCREEN

For Erbi Group, the Truepress JET 520HD Mono complements existing offset capacity, enabling the business to serve short and medium-run pharmaceutical leaflet jobs, as well as variable content requirements, that are better suited to digital production than to offset workflows and is now fully consolidated the digital press into their existing production environment.

Bielecki reflected on what has defined the SCREEN partnership, saying, “The equipment is excellent, but what really makes the difference is the expert service, technical support, and willingness to collaborate on workflow integration.” Erbi Group plans to expand its digital printing capacity as demand grows and is already collaborating with SCREEN to integrate additional folding and cutting equipment into the pharma leaflet printing workflow.
