Novarex Enters Digital Label Printing with SCREEN’s Truepress LABEL 350UV SAI S to Maintain Accelerated Growth

Italian label producer Novarex has taken a major step forward in its long-term growth and success by embracing digitalisation with the installation of a Truepress LABEL 350UV SAI S.

Venice, Italy – Founded in 1987, Novarex has built a strong reputation for producing labels for the food and logistics industries, traditionally relying on flexographic printing technologies. Four years ago, a change in management brought a renewed sense of energy and ambition to the company.

“While Novarex is an established business with extensive experience in label printing, we now have the energy, drive, and ambitions of a young, hungry start-up,” says Novarex partner Giacomo Bergamin. “We’re pursuing new clients, new markets, and see great potential for growth in the coming years, and we knew we needed to modernise our label production processes to do that. That is what lead us to SCREEN’s Truepress LABEL digital printing equipment”

Novarex Entering Digital Printing with SCREEN

Until now, Novarex specialised in high-volume production of medium-quality flexo labels for the food and logistics sectors. However, Giacomo observed how “Clients are increasingly requesting smaller individual batches of labels with better print quality and faster turnaround times,” explains Giacomo. “It was clear, digital printing is essential for meeting these demands and continuing to grow our business.”

As this would be Novarex’s first digital press, their team knew choosing the right partner was crucial. They were familiar with SCREEN for both having highly productive digital label presses and, particularly, their well-earned reputation for exceptional pre- and post-sales support going beyond the sale. Their team knew how important it is to work with a company that could help minimise the risk as they entered all-new new markets with unfamiliar digital printing equipment.

After carefully working with SCREEN’s technical and sales representatives and local Italian label press distributor REM srl to determine the best digital printing solution for their current and long-term needs, they agreed to install a Truepress LABEL 350UV SAI S—selected for its exceptional print quality, reliability, and versatility

Their technical team was particularly impressed with this digital UV label press’ ability to print on thermal papers, a key substrate for Novarex’s existing clients and markets. As SCREEN Truepress LABEL 350UV SAI S inkjet presses are one of the few digital solutions that can print on thermals papers consistently and effectively, making it a clear choice for their digital transformation.

“The new digital press from SCREEN gives us the same flexo printing quality we’re used to, but now with digital flexibility,” Giacomo continues. “Among all the solutions we tested, it produced the best print results on thermal papers, while we appreciate the additional Digital Primer’s abbility to support a more vibrant colour gamut and being fully regulatory compliant.”

Investing in Future-Proof Digital Printing

Ettore Maretti, Managing Director at REM srl, commented on this new and already successful partnership, saying, “Our relationship with SCREEN is built on a shared belief in mutual success for all parties. We use our expertise of the local market to find the right SCREEN solution that label converters like Novarex need—not what’s easiest to sell. That strong foundation is how you build real, long-term success.”

Looking ahead, Novarex plans to leverage its new digital printing capabilities to expand into new market segments, including cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and small-batch label production, while continuing to serve its existing customers in food and logistics.

“We’re hungry, ambitious,” concluded Giacomo, “and SCREEN was the right partner to ensure a successful entry into digital printing. This investment is a crucial step in being prepared for the future of label production and delivering the products our clients need and consumers expect.”
